The discovery and conquest of America and Australia marked the emergence of radical and genocidal racism in the world. This was due to the fact that the Spanish and Portuguese conquerors preferred native women from these continents as partners, and even as mothers of their children. During the Middle Ages or Dark Ages in Europe, Christianity had considered sexual pleasure the cradle of all sins, and children born out of wedlock were considered illegitimate, to the point that the worst insult in Medieval Europe was to be called a bastard. This aversion to sexual pleasure in European women led to the emergence of frigidity and celibacy, especially in women, as a blessing from God and not a sexual pathology.
