Is sedentary lifestyle the new pandemic in the world?
Sedentary lifestyle already became a health problem before the pandemic, but with quarantines or social distancing this has been complicated. The Internet, which allows us to work, study and visit friends without leaving home, adds to mechanized mobility, to reduce physical activity in the world.
But the Internet also leads us to a new form of sociability, in which what is said is thought and everything can be registered and saved by social networks, for an indefinite time, with what words, gestures, memories, etc. . they become more valuable and durable.
Working at home for 8 hours is another of the elements that multiply sedentary lifestyle, but the interesting thing is that the offices, which went from being places of control and surveillance of workers or meeting place, have been damaged, because among the Office workers and bosses arise sensitivities that interfere with work or make workers uncomfortable.
A similar problem arose in educational centers where the harassment or intimidation that we call bullying became a global and pathological problem of education.
Doing physical activity, work or studies at home seems to be an advantageous alternative to these problems created by the physical closeness between different humans.
But the lack of physical activity is stultifying, so it is recommended to follow exercise routines or practice with an online trainer, but contact with the sun, air, vegetation, and other people doing physical activity, is already an imperative necessity, even if only walking. The only direct contact with the sun's rays is a stimulant, so not being able to do this creates anxieties, depressions, disappointments.
But the greatest physical difficulty that this isolation creates for us due to the pandemic is being overweight, since our body consumed calories regularly thanks to routine motility, but now it no longer consumes those calories that are converted into fat, into weight.
This predisposes to diseases such as hypertension, joint pain, diabetes or depression.
It is necessary to resume physical activity and awareness of the relationship between food and calorie consumption, establish personal goals, individual achievements, which allow us to overcome the imbalances that this pandemic, with confinement, quarantines and social distancing, as well as the new ways of working, and moving quickly, or long distances, upset the body. Reconnecting with the outside world is a re-learning to coexist, creating our own physical activity routines, which can be from leaving the building elevator, the car, or public transport, to go to nearby places, to practice from calisthenics, martial arts, boxing, or ping pong, or doing dance therapy, yoga, cycling indoors or outdoors, and see every day a mechanism to reoccupy the relationship between open spaces and other human beings, animals or plants.
